Davies, Davies, Davies and Davies Exhibition - Ucheldre Centre - PRIVATE VIEW THIS SATURDAY - ALL welcome

17/Sep/2008

Glyn and his brother Simon, his Dad Gareth and his uncle Dyfed, all artists, join together for the first time ever at the Ucheldre Centre, Holyhead, with a striking exhibition of moody and dramatic imagery in paint, drawing, sculpture and photography. For Simon and Dyfed, this is perhaps the first exhibition of their work in decades so it really is a memorable occassion.

You are all invited to the Private view on Saturday 11th October, 7.00 pm, at the Ucheldre, (
http://www.ucheldre.org ) but if you can't make the PV then the show continues throughout October.  A short talk / discussion is planned for the private view where the artists will briefly discuss their work on show and visitors may ask questions. PLEASE, feel free to invite your friends and family.

Glyn on ITV Wales - TIDAL WALES Programme - Friday, September 5, 8.00 pm

26/Aug/2008

I am being featured in a new documentary series about people whose lives are affected or influenced by the sea and tides around the coast of Wales. I have NO IDEA how much of the interview I gave (with lovely news presenter Andrea Benfield), will be featured, or how daft I will sound :-), but it should give some interesting shots of the Dulas Estuary where I was being filmed, and some of the pictures I took. Actually one of them is going to be in my new book in October :-) !!!

GOLWG Magazine reviews The Enchantment exhibition

24/Jul/2008

In this week's GOLWG magazine, Ifan Morgan Jones interviews Glyn about his latest project on Nant Gwrtheyrn, and the haunting spirit of the valley contained within his pictures. The magazine has done a fantastic job of printing five of these surreal images across a double page spread. For more information on the show, please read the previous news item below.

Exhibition, The Enchantment, Nant Gwrtheyrn - Summer 08

08/Jul/2008

This taster exhibition is from a new art project I started back in February this year, about the amazing, beautiful, surreal and resurrected village of Nant Gwrtheyrn on the Lleyn Peninsula. An original discussion with founder of the Nant Gwrtheyrn trust, Dr Carl Clowes resulted in an open-ended, completely personal brief which has now been extended throughout 2008. A much larger exhibition to launch a new 50-60 image art book about Y Nant, is planned for March 2009. The book will be on sale at Y Nant and also online. The show runs throughout the summer. Phone 01758 750334 for further details and opening times.

Glyn had the pleasure of doing a photo-shoot with Josie Russell to accompany the BBC's One Life Series. The images have been promoted by the BBC for use in many editorial features such as the Sunday Express Magazine and The Mail on Sunday. "Josie was an absolute gem to work with, positive, easy to relate to, possesses a winning smile and a warm personality, as well as being incredibly photogenic! I really didn't want the session to end!" The first showing of the program about Josie is on ONE LIFE, Tuesday 1st APril at 10.35pm-11.20pm.

Isles Apart - New Exhibition at Oriel Ucheldre, Holyhead

13/Jan/2007

Friday 4th - Monday 28thMay 2007

Sneak Preview here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/northwest/sites/arts/pages/glyndavies.shtml

Isles Apart is a collection of personal, visual fascinations. The photographs were taken on just a few of the islands I’ve visited, from the Azores and the Canaries, to Malta & Greece, but also including our own beautiful Ynys Môn. I have always been fascinated by islands with their finite perimeters of coastline, and being surrounded by sea. The distances between these geographical wonders have highlighted huge variations of topography and human influence.  This is not a tourist guide to these islands, more of an artist’s awareness of the visual differences between isles miles apart!

Glyn's talk for Adobe at NEC a great success!

27/Feb/2006

On Sunday 26th February 2006, Glyn was  asked to give two talks for the international software giant - Adobe®,  at Focus on Imaging, the national trade show at the NEC in Birmingham. Glyn talked about his work and his latest exhibitions and then gave a demonstration about how he uses  PhotoShop® within his digital workflow. The 'open theatre' soon had a large crowd of about 80 people listening in for a whole hour to Glyn's rationale and tips on usage and he received a warm ovation after each session, followed by two really interesting question and answer sessions aftwerwards. There is a possibility of Glyn becoming involved with further talks for other digital imaging companies, watch this space!  (Picture Credit: Jonathan Briggs)
