2012 7th Jan - 4th Feb - Collaborative Exhibition
"Before and After" (Cynt a Chwedyn) - Rhyl Library Arts Centre
A joint exhibition by collaborative artists, Glyn Davies and Wanda Zyborska, dealing with the issues surrounding scarification after life-threatening breast cancer, and what it means to the artist Wanda, as a woman, who is additionally reflecting on the process of ageing anyway. In her naked state, surrounded by her large organic looking rubber sculptures, her figure is exposed to all. Here, we are able to study without challenge the effects of scarring, but at the same time can reflect on the natural beauty that is the both the female form and Wanda's body. By working with a male artist, Wanda wanted to see how the effects of scarring might affect the male gaze and appreciation of the female figure. Glyn is producing six A0 sized prints as his art work for this intriguing collaboration but a series of Wanda's avant garde sculptures will also be seen at this show.
The Private View is Tuesday 10th January at 7.00 pm. All welcome, admission free. There will be a performance at the opening by the artist Wanda.

2011 Wednesday 9th Oct (7.00 pm) Artist's talk at my gallery
"Anglesey Art Group" - Anglesey
Just two days after my talk for the Holyhead Camera Club here t my gallery, I was in full flow again, this time for the very busy Anglesey Art Group. The talk lasted just under two hours and covered everything from art, aesthetic and philosophy to environment, conservation and destruction.
I simply can't limit myself to talking about photography as an art, because my subject is so much more important than image making. I can't talk about landscape as art because it isn't, it's a subject which inspires my art - it's a subject which is under threat, it is a subject linked to politics, attitudes, morals, nature, wildlife, conservation, pollution, health, and to me and I know many others, spirituality. It's always great when an audience gets excited by these issues rather than cameras and technique, and being artists, this group didn't disappoint at all :-)
Thanks to artist Allan Redfern for inviting me to talk to his group.

2011 Monday 7th Oct (7.00 pm) Artist's talk at my gallery
"Holyhead Camera Club" - Anglesey
I rarely do talks to camera clubs but I was so nicely asked by club chairman Medwyn Wlliams that I couldn't refuse, AND unlike most clubs they paid a really fair fee for the talk which helped bend my arm :-)
The talk lasted an hour and a half and the audience were really receptive and asked intelligent questions, not even about cameras :-) Several members bought my books afterwards which is always a respectful compliment from photographers, so thank you guys.

2011 Tuesday Oct 4th (2.00 pm) Artist's talk at my gallery
"Menai Bridge Senior Citizens' Club" - Anglesey
A group of incredibly sprightly, bright eyed and chirpy ladies (average age 90!) swarmed into my gallery and most flew up the long flight of stairs to the lecture room ! I gave a 1.5 hour passionate chat about landscape, photography, environment and life in general, followed by insightful questions (as you would expect) from the ladies, and then coffee, book signings and even a Limited Edition print sale. Afterwards, several ladies came to tell me it was the best talk they had ever had! Everyone was chatting and excited. I fell in love with every one of them, what a fantastic group!
They are always keen to see new members, so please contact Eryl Gowers for further information, on Menai Bridge 01248 717292. They meet at the Menai Bridge Community Centre alternate Tuesdays, between 2pm and 3pm (Autumn and Spring)

2011 June 7th - June 10th - Print Exhibition
"Wales Uploaded" - Association of Photographers Gallery, LONDON
This show was the prestigious second venue for the long awaited exhibition of Glyn's latest images. It was over 25 years since Glyn had held a show in London so this was a fantastic opportunity to bring his Welsh images to a London audience. An exhibition was well overdue, as it was almost a year from his last exhibition of new work, instead of the anticipated 3-4 times a year. The upside to the year long wait is that there was some very powerful new work to seen in this show. There was a talk for photographers on Wednesday 8th June at the AOP Gallery, at 3.00 pm.

2011 Friday April 29th (4.45 pm) Radio Interview
"The Roy Noble Show" - BBC Radio Wales
This interview came the day of the Royal Wedding following the huge accolade. The UK Prime Minister David Cameron purchased two of Glyn's art books about Anglesey as a gift for the Royal Couple, Prince William and Catherine Middleton. There was a media torrent with The Telegraph, (actual video of Prime Minister talking about Glyn HERE) The Independent, The Sun and the BBC Online all contacting Glyn for the story but BBC Wales got in for the first interview on the afternoon of the wedding itself !

2011 March 26th - April 9th Print Exhibition
"Wales Uploaded" - Oriel Glyn Davies Gallery, Menai Bridge
This show is a long awaited exhibition of Glyn's latest images. In fact it is almost a year overdue as normally he releases new work 3-4 times each year. However, with the general state of the economy last year, the almost complete lack of buying public in the first half year, it was simply not feasible. However the second half of 2010 was much more buoyant and customers regained spending confidence. The upside to the wait is that there is some phenomenally powerful new work to be printed and shown in this next release.

This joint exhibition features the work of four artists from the same Welsh family. Each works in a different medium - including sculpture, painting, drawing and photography - to express ideas, emotions and observations. For two of the artists, this is their first exhibition in many years, but the work they have been producing in their own time is both powerful and thought-provoking.

"Nant Gwrtheyrn: The Enchantment - Y Swyngyfaredd" - Café Meinir - Nant Gwrtheyrn
These images are from a new art project I started back in February this year, about this amazing, beautiful, surreal and resurrected village of Nant Gwrtheyrn. An original discussion with founder of the Nant Gwrtheyrn trust, Dr Carl Clowes resulted in an open-ended, completely personal brief which has now been extended throughout 2008. A much larger exhibition to launch a new 50-60 image art book about Y Nant, is planned for March 2009. The book will be on sale at Y Nant and also here online.

"Isles Apart" - Ucheldre Centre Gallery - Holyhead
Isles Apart is a collection of personal, visual fascinations. The photographs were taken on just a few of the islands I’ve visited, from the Azores and the Canaries, to Malta and Greece, but also including our own beautiful Ynys Môn. I have always been fascinated by islands with their finite perimeters of coastline, and being surrounded by sea. The distances between these geographical wonders have highlighted huge variations of topography and human influence. This is not a tourist guide to these islands, more of an artist’s awareness of the visual similarities between isles thousands of miles apart!

The pictures show that these two ancient Celtic lands have as many similarities as differences, and that there are still places and times to experience a sense of wilderness or solitude and equally, moments to simply stand in awe
