25 imagesThe Azores lie in the Mid Atlantic Ocean, and form an important stop over point for trans Atlantic yachtsmen. These images were taken on just one trip to Sao Miguel, Flores and Horta, all lush volcanic islands with amazing landscape features. The weather is often inclement as moist sea air hugs the mountains, which are just the visible peaks of an enormous range which sink to the deepest area of the Atlantic Ocean. I would visit these Portuguese owned archipelago any number of times as it is still relatively unaffected by main-scale tourism

16 imagesI actually have many more images of this fascinating geological area of Southern Portugal known as the Algarve. I have been staying with friends over a four year period and these image were originally intended for a very short run Limited Edition book of the area from Faro, to Carvoeiro, Lagos, Portimao to Sagres on the South West tip. The soft sandstone rock erodes easily and the seas of the Atlantic Ocean carve easily into the land, creating huge steep cliffs and surreal rock formations.
