Cool Spring morning sunshine slowly rose above the Welsh hills in the East and a yellow warmth gently spread from sky to sea, reflected beautifully by the near mirror-calm surface of the Menai Strait. The first few boats have appeared on the moorings, waiting for the season ahead. This was a few years back, before the end of the lovely Victorian Beaumaris Pier was blighted by the practical, but truly ugly bolt on of fat white posts to take the rising pontoon.
