For such a busy tourist hot-spot, I've always been amazed at how Mousehole (pronounced Mowzle) has retained a strong sense of Cornish heritage and identity. It still 'feels' Cornish with its fishing boats, traditional granite cottages, tiny streets, and wonderful little granite harbour. Even in winter there's a recognition that people actually live here, and that not all of the cottages are yet holiday homes.
I see the harsh worn granite steps down into the sea, the rusty ladders, the higgledy piggledy stonework, and I can imagine seeing the exact same things from centuries before.
