The boulders feel cool and smooth to the touch, pressing into his body, supporting his limbs. Formed over eons rather than decades, rounded and smoothed by the forces of nature, buried and then uncovered only to be further eroded. There is similarity between all of them, yet each holds characteristics of their own. He lies amongst them, at one with them and they feel familiar and comforting to him.
Morning sunlight spills onto his naked body in this dark cove, warming his skin in contrast to the cold boulders beneath. He feels more alive than ever as he soaks up the heat. His chest rises and falls as he breathes. His fingertips gently touch the surrounding stones and he can feel an almost imperceptible change in their temperature too. He connects with geological time.
