Unusually, the heavy mist of breakfast time was still hanging over the Strait. I couldn't resist parking up in 'speed-trap-lay-by' and wandering across the Cadnant Bridge. Mainland Wales was just the faintest suggestion in the distance and the coastal islets of the Strait were different tones of misty opacity. Apart from the obvious elemental beauty there was not much happening when all of a sudden, a lone gull took off from the mirror-flat water and headed for Menai Bridge. The camera shutter has captured the bird the moment it was pierced by the ghostly reflection of a yacht's mast, immortalised as a decisive moment in spirit and time.
